INTER-INSTITUTIONAL COORDINATION MEETING HELD REGARDING RESTORATION PROCESSES

Under the coordination of our Directorate General, a stakeholder meeting was held to comprehensively address the project and implementation phases of the ongoing restorations at the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque and the Selimiye Mosque, both carried out under our responsibility, and to further strengthen inter-institutional cooperation.
The meeting, chaired by Prof. Dr. Öcal Oğuz, President of the UNESCO Turkish National Commission; Mr. Birol İnceciköz, Director General of Cultural Heritage and Museums; and our Deputy Director General Mr. Mustafa Kemal Aran, was attended by representatives from the UNESCO Turkish National Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Presidency of Religious Affairs, the Directorate General of Cultural Heritage and Museums, and our Directorate General.
Within the scope of the meeting, the ongoing works at both monuments were evaluated in light of technical, administrative, and international obligations, and consultations were held to enhance the effectiveness of coordination mechanisms.
Additionally, the Directorate General of Cultural Heritage and Museums provided briefings on the current restoration practices at the İznik Lake Basilica and the Ani Cathedral.
